Actor + Award Winning Filmmaker + Herovillain
Alex West is an actor, and award-winning filmmaker that is best known for his dynamic portrayal of Montez in “Angel” the TV series on BET+, Louis in “This is Me Now” on Prime, and his brainchild Harvested the Holiday Horror (Harvested, Harvested 2, and Harvested 3).
His other top credits include “Angie's Cure", “Dog”, A Holiday Change", Dread, and "Don't Shoot". As a child, Alex entertained himself by watching VHS tapes and memorizing the lines from his favorite actors and scenes. Those who have worked with Alex in the past, have raved about his range and skill. He proclaims that - Tupac’s monologues from "Juice" and “Above the Rim” are what helped him discover the passion while Will Smith’s charisma in “Bad Boys” and “Independence Day” garnered his interest in action. Studying Will and Tupac helped him learn from both ends of the talent spectrum simultaneously, allowing him to play a studious District Attorney in "Don’t Shoot", then make a full 180 to become the villainous thug, Montez, in "Angel".
Although Alex did not attend any acting schools, and has no formal training, he jumped right into acting and followed his instincts. After notching a few short films onto his resume, Alex seeked coaching from the late Gary Chason, and learned to become grounded, reactive and responsive. He is now a student of Margie Haber, where he focuses on character development and character relationships. With his combat and tactical weapons training, Alex is a bonafide athlete and action junkie. His dream roles are Tyler Durden in Fight Club and Steven Hiller in Independence Day.
Before the film industry, Alex was a hard nosed International basketball player for 6 years. Through basketball training, he learned the power of repetition, focus and resilience. Although he retired due to injuries, he still approaches acting and filmmaking as though it is a championship game. The LA native is married to Ruby Lee Dove II who is also an actor and filmmaker. At 6’2 Alex is a Scorpio, born on November 7, 1984.
To bring reality closer, Alex taught himself how to write screenplays, produce and direct films so that he can cast himself for the roles that he desires. In 2016 the self taught writer and filmmaker starred in his own crime/action short film titled “Blood & Water”, which amassed 23 international awards (4X platinum). Amongst the prestigious awards was a Platinum Remi Plaque that was also awarded to Steven Spielberg, George Lucas, Robert Rodriguez, Ang Lee and The Coen Brothers in their early days.
Since then, Alex has been the 1st Assistant Director on the feature film “The Foriegn Exchange Student" which is on Tubi and Peacock, and he recently wrote, produced and directed "Harvested" in 2021 and “Harvested 2” (2022) - The Legend of Harold Rice which are now streaming on (Culture Forward TV) Roku, Samsung TV, LG TV and multiple other platforms where they are free to the public. He is enthralled with inspiring, helping and motivating other's by creating content and opportunities through his companies, Culture Forward Media Group and Culture Forward TV.
Harvested is a Holiday Horror Film franchise that is centered around a small town farmer that returns from the dead to serve vengeance on Thanksgiving Day. Although it is a horror slasher film, it contains many cultural subliminals and undertones that shine light on racial atrocities from the past. With an original story line, Harvested introduces a new monster by the name of Harold Rice aka the Harvest Monster, a deranged farmer that owns all of the land in a small town. He is targeted by rival farmers and large corporations that want his land and crops. After being maimed and burned alive and robbed for his crops and land on Thanksgiving Day, Harold Rice returns from the dead to serve vengeance on Thanksgiving night. Harold Rice is played by Gregor Haley, with SFX creature concept design by none other than Veniesa Dillion and soundtrack music from hip hop artists Cazo Cas, Judell Rome and ClintD.
Harvested 2 (2022) The Legend of Harold Rice is now streaming for free on Culture Forward TV. Harvested 3 (2024) is coming 10.24.24
